2024 was a remarkable year for All.Can Belgium in many ways. We kicked off the election year with our policy memorandum, offering concrete recommendations to policymakers on how to make cancer care in Belgium even more effective and patient-centered.
A few months later, we raised awareness about sarcoma with patient testimonials and interviews of medical experts. In June, during our General Assembly, we discussed new insights into the treatment of operable non-small cell lung cancer and, more broadly, the healthcare challenges facing the new governments.
In early November, we hosted our first large-scale conference, “Cancer Care: The Future Is Now”, focusing on both groundbreaking advances in cancer research and practice and the policies needed to bring these innovations to patients.
Also in November, we launched the “Clear the Air on Lung Cancer” campaign together with Prolong, ALK Positive Belgium, and the other members of our lung cancer working group. For a month, we shared powerful stories from patients, caregivers, and researchers. Mid-November, we also organized an event for the general public at Brussels Central Station, which attracted national and continued the conversation on national television.
We concluded the year with the publication of our whitepaper on lung cancer screening, highlighting the pros and cons of a national screening program and formulated well-reasoned recommendations for policymakers.
And these are just the highlights from 2024…
A Reliable Partner
What do we see as the most important achievement in this entire series? Not a single action or publication, but the fact that All.Can Belgium is increasingly being recognized as a reliable partner in Belgian cancer care.
Thanks to our unique multi-stakeholder approach, we bring together all the key perspectives—patients, healthcare providers, policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, and more. Together, we are shaping a shared vision for the future of cancer care in our country.
All with one goal in mind: to truly make a difference for cancer patients.
